The Treble Clef
A clef is a musical symbol used to indicate the pitch of written notes. The treble clef, also known as the G clef, is used to notate higher notes. It wraps around the second line of the staff and names that note G.
Every note in music corresponds to a letter. The music alphabet is made up of only seven letters: A-G. This is because when playing the notes in order, the note that would be "H", sounds like another "A", so we just start the set over. A, B, C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C, D, E, F, G etc . . . . .
The treble clef is divided into lines and spaces. Notes are either on a line or in a space. A great way to remember the note names of the line notes is to use the saying: Every Good Boy Does Fine. The first letter of each word is the name of the note.

The space notes of the treble clef spell the word FACE. This is a great tool to help identify these notes!

The space note below and above the staff are also considered part of the treble clef.
These notes are labeled D and G.
